We were recently gazumped on a property that Ralph from Mount & Minster marketed. This happened over a month after our offer had been accepted and after lawyers had been instructed. The process was so far progressed that our children were in the process of changing nurseries!
Ralph sat on the rival offer for a week before informing us. In this time Fran from the Mount & Minster office sent a number of misleading and disingenuous emails. Ralph also informed me that no one had viewed the property since our second viewing. This, coupled with the underhand management of the rival offer, suggests that Ralph actively cultivated this rival offer in a bid to create a bidding war.
In hindsight, the red flags were there from the beginning. Only a handful of time critical viewing slots were offered and these were all during the working week. In order to get a second viewing (so that my wife could see the property) we effectively had to put an offer in. Ralph then failed to mention that the lawyer he recommended pays him 100 for every referral he sends them. Throughout the process the communication was sporadic and I lost count of the number of times my calls to the office were unanswered. In summary, Ralph and his team cannot be trusted and they lack integrity. We'll not be interacting with Mount and Minster in any future capacity.
